Our speaker this week was the MLA for Nedlands Mr Jonathon Huston. John was educated at Aquinas College where he was the head boy in his final year. At 17 he was selected to go to Duntroon Military College and two years after graduating was appointed to the Australian Intelligence Corp.During his time in the army he was posted to Sandhurst and spent time in Northern Ireland. One of the highlights of his career was having a one- on- one meeting with the Queen which lasted for an hour. He was very impressed with how knowledgeable she was about Western Australia. After 16 years, Jonathon resigned from the army and took up the position of General Manager of Tintacar which he subsequently bought. This was followed by a series of small & medium sized businesses and franchises Jonathon was moved to enter the Western Australian Parliament because he abhorred the negative attitude by most of the current politicians, he believed that our children & grandchildren are not getting the benefits flowing from our mineral wealth (He felt that the royalties paid to the state government were far too low), he favoured a Western Australian Sovereign Fund and the total abolition of payroll tax. He was shocked at the level of domestic violence in the community
