There was no Guest Speaker this week as it was time for formalities – our Club’s Annual General Meeting followed by a Club Forum to discuss a range of topics. Naturally the business conducted at the AGM is confidential to Members, and a summary will be contained in the Minutes.
As far as the Club Forum is concerned, a number of interesting suggestions were made and good discussions took place. The question of social events for Members and their Partners and Families came up, and many useful comments were made. A popular suggestion was that we should have weekends away at places like York or Bridgetown. Visits to venues such as the Art Gallery or the Convention Centre also go down well, as do trips to local wineries such as Sitella.
Club Membership received a fair amount of attention, as we need to find ways and means of attracting additional people to join our ranks. It was felt that we should not be shy about telling the public about the good things that we do in the community, such as the driver education initiative.
Our calendar year will conclude with a Christmas Function to be held on 4th December, after which we will be in recess until early February.
