Jeremy Wood presided over our Rotary 4 Way Test Speaking Competition at the Lake Monger Bowling Club last Wednesday evening, and what a terrific night it was! Six Primary Schools and 11 Speakers were involved, and it was generally agreed that this year’s standard was the best to date. It attracted around 100 supporters as well – a record!
The results were:
- Winner: Madison McLean from Floreat Park; topic Artificial Intelligence
- Runner-up: Sophia Wang from Churchlands; topic Gender Equality
- Third: Ruby Miller from Kapinara Primary School; topic The Mental Health Crisis in Australia
The District Final is at the Wembley Downs Primary School on Thursday 15th August at 10 am – bookings are necessary.
Grateful thanks go to Jeremy and Jeanette for organising everything, Eileen for providing food, and Libby for preparing two sumptuous hampers for the raffle which defrayed expenses of the night to a great extent. Thanks also to Adjudicators Pascale, Graeme (both from Toastmasters) and Peter, as well as to timekeeper Don!
What a lot of talent we have in our local youth – it’s an inspiration to behold!
