Our last meeting was the Club’s Changeover Night which was held at the Ambrose Estate – Wembley Golf Course, and what a pleasant evening it was! Happily most of our Members were present along with many of our Wives or Partners, and we also welcomed a handful of Honorary Members as well as a number of Guests – including District Governor Elect Ineke Oliver and Geoff, Assistant Governor Jane O’Leary, Christine Tonkin MLA the Member for Churchlands, Councillor Rob Fredericks and Pauline, Susan Bursill, John and Pipina Travlos, and Rory and Mary Beattie. The traditional toast to Rotary International was proposed by the MC for the night, Roger Veary, and DG Elect Ineke responded on behalf of Rotary International. President Jeremy then gave his outgoing President’s address in which he highlighted the many milestones and achievements that have occurred over the last 12 months – in spite of Covid-19 restrictions! After the main course we had two presentations: the first a Friend of Rotary Award to Christine Tonkin by President Jeremy, and secondly a Paul Harris Fellow Award to Past President Peter Pearse by Past District Governor Ross Ledger. Congratulations to both recipients. There was no induction of a new President this time as Jeremy is continuing for another year, and we thank him for that. Jeremy then introduced the new Board for 2021 – 2022, and there were no surprises there! We then resorted to dessert, coffee and lots of fellowship, after which we all repaired home, tired but happy! Our thanks go to the Social Committee for its contribution to the arrangements for the night. Well done all round!
