The final meeting for the Rotary year was a Club Forum, and Pres. Jeremy started proceedings with three Pride of Workmanship Awards to people who play a vital part in facilitating our meetings: George Young who provides the coffees; Mark Boden of Pronto Catering who provides the breakfast; and Ross Bolton who manages the Cambridge Bowling Club facility. Thank you one and all! Jeremy then handed over to incoming President Frank Nathan who outlined a few of his thoughts for the future. Firstly Frank reminded us about membership and the need to be on the lookout for suitable people who may be interested in joining us. We also need to think about fund raising possibilities, as there will be no Club fete in the 2022/23 Rotary year due to the Wembley Primary School Fete in November. It was suggested that we should investigate the possibility of running a stall at that event, or possibly linking up with the Community Shed Fair which is scheduled for September. Frank also urged Members to come forward with ideas for suitable projects now that our involvement with the Shed has been completed. Libby Larsen will be Club Administrator on the new Board and the role of handling the weekly front desk will be rotated amongst Members on a monthly basis, starting with Peter Burns in July. The Member allocated to introducing and thanking the Guest Speaker will also host that person i.e. make sure that they get breakfast, are made to feel at home etc. There will be a roster for set up and pack up, and the allocated person will be responsible for providing an alternative if they can’t do it. When there is no Guest Speaker we should all be ready to fill in with personal anecdotes or experiences.
