Our member Peter Wagner put in an enormous amount of time and effort to organise our Rotary WA Driver Education (RWADE) programme at the Showgrounds, and he experienced many frustrations along the way, but the end result was a terrific success! Peter was assisted by half a dozen other members of our Club, and together they ensured that the John XXIII College (JTC) students received a comprehensive range of information which will assist them to become responsible and safe road users in the future.
Nearly two hundred students attended, and they were divided into six teams which were rotated through the six educational sessions. Our Club’s members were assisted by personnel from the Road Traffic Police, St John Ambulance, and the Road Safety Commission, all of whom gave valuable input into the students’ learning experience.
Unfortunately, not everything went according to plan on the day as the IT system decided to be difficult early in the piece, but Peter and his team managed to resolve the issues quite quickly, and everything settled down into a good pattern. A lovely BBQ lunch was provided by the Rapid Relief Team (the modest cost funded by our Club), the students behaved impeccably, and the weather was superb! Congratulations go to Peter and all his helpers for producing such a wonderful community service – well done!
