We heard from a very busy lady this week, and it was fascinating to hear how Natasha Atkinson allocates her time towards her various interests. Natasha grew up in the central Wheatbelt town of Merriden, but her high school education took place at PLC in Perth. At the age of 23 Natasha opened a coffee outlet called Café Moka, and she quickly worked out that, as a business owner, you are responsible and whatever happens is your problem. In 2012 Natasha became the Marketing Manager of Fremantle Markets, and two years later she was appointed the inaugural CEO – a position which she still holds and which enables her to deliver operational excellence through focussing on effectiveness, consistency, efficiency and quality. The Markets host around 170 small businesses, and Natasha and her team create a stage on which the traders act. Natasha is also a wife and a mum, and she with husband Joe have a particular affinity with York, where they run Wheatbelt Luxury Escapes. Natasha is deputy Chair of the Fremantle Chamber of Commerce, Chair of York Racing Inc., and a Committee member of Wheatbelt Arts & Events (which organises 3 Festivals in the Wheatbelt each year). Natasha admits that leadership can be uncomfortable and she asks: do you want to be liked or do the job properly?! Natasha left us with much food for thought!!
