The 50th Anniversary of the Rotary Club of Cambridge was celebrated in style at the Ambrose Estate.
The 50th Anniversary Party/Changeover night was great! Present were 19 Members, 4 Honorary Members, many partners, Dg Graham Peden and his wife Sue, DG Nominee Dee Buckland and her partner Jonathan Weir, plus Mayor of the Town of Cambridge Keri Shannon and her Partner Jeff Dawkins. The evening started with drinks and canapes in the foyer after which the those present proceeded to the dining area where, after introductions, MC Roger Veary proposed the Toast to Rotary International. DG Graham responded. After the main course, PDG Ross Ledger gave a potted pen picture of the Floreat Club history. This was followed by PP Peter Burns who summed up the development of the City Beach Club. Fascinating stuff! President Peter then proposed the Toast to the Cambridge Rotary Club, and, with the assistance of Don Holywell cut the cake. Don's father Bill was DG in the year that the club was formed (1969). The formalities concluded with the presentation of Certificates - Appreciation to Max Mardardy and peter Burns for decades of selfless service to the club; Honorary Membership to Leonie Pearse and a Friend of Rotary to Mayor Keri Shannon.
